Why did you decide to elope in Tofino?
We had a big, beautiful wedding planned for this past June. We ended up postponing our day due to COVID (with no new date in sight)… Shortly after, Brandon and Jess sent us a text to see if we had made any new arrangements for our day. After they realized that we were stumped for a new plan moving forward, they jokingly asked us if we wanted to head to Tofino with them the following Friday to elope.
We took it as a sign – and that’s how it all went down. It was such a beautifully unexpected turn of events that led us to our favourite two weeks of all time.
Are you glad you decided to elope?
We absolutely love how serendipitously things came together. It wasn’t what we had initially envisioned, but it was ultimately so much more “us” than we had even imagined. Having months to reflect back on everything, we are so happy that we just went for it. We wouldn’t change a thing.
What was the most memorable part of the day?
That we weren’t doing it for anyone other than for each other. It was so intimate, spontaneous, and romantic. Also, having Brandon and Jess there was one of the reasons it was so magical. First and foremost they are an amazing team. They are incredible at their craft, are so prepared, and are just super cool people. We were laughing for hours, and after just a few minutes in, it felt like we were old friends.
How did you choose your wedding photographer?
Brandon and Jess shot our friends wedding, and we loved how they interacted with everyone. They were so organized and relaxed. You could just tell that they genuinely love what they do. After seeing their photos, we knew that we were ready to book everything around their schedule so that we could guarantee them for our day.
Do you have any advice for newly engaged couples planning a wedding during a pandemic and thinking of eloping?
We’ve been through the whole planning process. We were trying to put together guest lists, and trying to constantly find ways to ensure that everyone would have the best night. We were so focused on trying to make other people happy, that we lost sight of what matters most – the two of us and our love. Once we put that at the forefront, we knew that we were making the right decision with our elopement. So, with that said, we just recommend focusing on what ultimately is the most important to the two of you and what will bring you the most joy.
