How did you choose The Doctors House Venue and wedding vibe?

We knew we were working with a winter wedding so definitely wanted something that would have that festive/rustic charm but still be modern. We wanted it to be romantic but not theme-y or Christmas-y. One of our bridesmaids introduced us to The Doctors House and it really had everything we were looking for — the space and grounds were beautiful and not cookie cutter, it would be easy for guests to get to and both ceremony and reception could happen in the same place.

What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?

Too hard to pick one!! For me (Michelle) it was definitely seeing Ryan and walking down the aisle to him, but I also loved our confetti exit from the chapel, getting ready with the girls, seeing the space for the first time and dancing with my dad. Ryan says it was seeing me for the first time.

How did you choose your wedding photographer?

We had a shortlist of options based on some of our own research and referrals from friends. Of that list, Brandon Scott seemed most aligned to our vibe — super romantic, candid and a great eye. Once we chatted with them over the phone we knew they were going to be perfect (and we were right).  Their energy and talent is so evident from their work but also in person when they’re shooting.

Do you have any advice for newly engaged couples?

Definitely enjoy the moment! Looking back, we’re so glad we were away when we got engaged because we got to soak it in for a second just the two of us. As far as planning, we’d recommend identifying as a couple what your must-haves are and using that as your base for budgeting and decision making (for us, it was photographer, flowers, food and music). And don’t stress!! Once you lock in a venue everything will start to fall into place.
